Design Contest
The African Well Fund is excited to announce a design contest to
celebrate the 9th Annual Build a Well for Bono's Birthday fundraising
campaign. Since 2003, U2 fans from around the world have contributed
nearly $200,000 to AWF in honor of Bono's birthday to fund clean water
and sanitation projects benefiting more than 30,000 people in Angola,
Liberia, Uganda and Zimbabwe.
This year, we're looking for a design that captures the Build a Well for
Bono's Birthday theme of "Because we can, we must," the mission of the
African Well Fund and its commitment to the ideal that access to clean
water is a basic human right.
The design contest concludes on Friday, March 18. The winning design
will be selected by AWF's board of directors and announced on Tuesday,
March 22, World Water Day and the kickoff of Build a Well for Bono's
Birthday. The winning design will be featured on the AWF website and
social media pages, as well as in press releases and on items sold
through the AWF Zazzle store.
Artists are asked to submit their designs in a JPG or PDF format to
lwineman@africanwellfund.org
by Friday, March 18. All designs submitted must include the fundraiser
theme, the AWF logo (which can be downloaded here) and the AWF website
(africanwellfund.org). Designs must also be available in a 300-dpi
minimum high-resolution format if chosen to promote Build a Well for
Bono's Birthday (PSD/AI/EPS/TIFF/PDF formats are all acceptable). Please
don't include any copyrighted images or derivative images of Bono or U2
in your design.
Designs will be judged by AWF's board of directors on creativity,
relationship to the purpose of creating water education in an
eye-catching way, drawing interest to the AWF and our mission, and
promoting the Build a Well for Bono's Birthday fundraiser.
The winning design will become property of AWF and will be used in print and online for future campaigns and at our discretion.
