From May 1st to May 31st the African Well Fund invites U2 fans and others who are inspired by Bono’s tireless activism on behalf of Africa to donate to the 16th Annual Build a Well for Bono’s Birthday fundraiser in honor of Bono’s 58th birthday.

The 15 previous campaigns have raised over $255,000 in Bono’s honor to fund the construction of clean water and sanitation projects in Sub-Saharan Africa which are benefiting more than 73,000 people in Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Mali, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

This year’s campaign marks the inauguration of a AWF’s new partnership with The Humanity Project. The Humanity Project, founded by Michael Herman and Rachael Yoder, has recently completed the construction of a maternity clinic in Mloka, Tanzania. African Well Fund is seeking to fund the construction of a waterpoint for the clinic and surrounding villages. Once constructed, the waterpoint will serve up to 6,000 people.
