Over the month of May, African Well Fund has raised $12,645.00 for our 19th Annual Build a Well for Bono’s Birthday fundraiser – enough to fully fund a new project in Msona, Tanzania. The 18 previous campaigns have raised more than $283,000 in Bono’s honor to fund the construction of clean water and sanitation projects in Sub-Saharan Africa which are benefiting more than 73,000 people in Angola, Benin, Burkina Faso, Liberia, Mali, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe.

This year’s campaign marks a return to AWF’s partnership with The Outer Loop. The Outer Loop, founded by Michael Herman and Rachael Yoder, has recently completed the construction of a maternity clinic in Mloka, Tanzania. Previously, African Well Fund funded the construction of a waterpoint for the clinic and its surrounding village of 6,000 people. Our current project will be located in the neighboring village of Msona, Tanzania and will provide a waterpoint in the local secondary school which currently has no water for sanitation. It will also be used by the local community of approximately 3,500, providing them with safe, clean water.
