In 2002, a group of U2 fans was inspired to take positive action for people in sub-Saharan Africa lacking access to clean water and sanitation after watching an MTV documentary about a trip Bono took to Uganda and Ethiopia with Chris Tucker and Paul O’Neill and founded the African Well Fund. Within its first 10 years, AWF raised more than $1 million to fund 32 projects benefiting more than 350,000 people in 15 countries.

To mark everything it accomplished in its first 10 years, AWF has released the report “African Well Fund: 10 Years. $1 Million,” which includes information on the nonprofit’s founding, fundraisers, projects and a 2012 financial report.

The 10-year report is available for download here.
