Be The Cause, a Southern-California based group promoting global awareness and activism, presents An Evening in Africa on Saturday, April 30, 2005. Irvine’s Turtle Rock Community Center will host the event, which highlights the experiences of seventeen Be The Cause volunteers who traveled to Africa in December of 2004.
Volunteers will share stories, photos and video taken while they worked on volunteer projects in South Africa and Kenya. An Evening in Africa will feature additional presentations from Joanne Baker of Tias Arms, and Alka Subramanian of Power of Love. Swaziland native Makhosazana Fletcher will dance, and attendees are invited to bring their own drums for a traditional African drum circle. In addition, the African Well Fund will host an informational table at the event.
An Evening in Africa is presented in coordination with INSAKA and the BAHA’I community. This event is free and open to the public, and runs from 6-9 PM. All donations received from those in attendance will be divided equally among Tias Arms and Power of Love, organizations providing relief efforts in South Africa and Kenya, respectively. More information can be found at the Be The Cause web site.
