Managing a small volunteer-run nonprofit organization can be a challenge and though we have been quiet here, behind the scenes, the work continues. Here are some updates from 2023 and a quick preview of an exciting announcement to come.
- The total amount raised for the 2023 Build a Well for Bono’s Birthday fundraiser was $21,405.21! The money was used for a water and sanitation project in Burkina Faso that is nearing completion. We hope to have details from this project to share soon.
- In October 2023, AWF board members traveled to Las Vegas to attend one of U2’s shows at the Sphere, While in town, we met with a member of U2’s management and delivered the 2023 birthday card containing all the collected messages.
- In December, we travelled back to Las Vegas for a U2 fan party at the Hard Rock Cafe benefitting the African Well Fund. The party, organized by former atu2 staffer Sherry Lawrence, raised over $2000 for AWF
The party topped off an incredible year of fundraising for AWF. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to fund a second project, details of which will be coming soon!
