Olivia Cekel, Lauren Flynn and Dorothy Goodwin from Peace Love Cupcakes present a check to Diane Yoder (Vice Chair, AWF), Dr. Christopher Mfronyam (Director of Health Programs, Africare), Franklin Moore (Chief of Programs, Africare), and Rachel Ochako (Deputy Director of International Programs, Africare) at Africare house.

On Monday, March 20th, Olivia, Lauren and Dorothy from Peace Love Cupcakes presented a check for $28,000 to staff members of the African Well Fund and Africare in Washington D.C. The 3 high school seniors, with the help of their parents, founded PLC as a non-profit in the 6th grade and have been raising funds for AWF by baking and selling cupcakes in their community in Westford, Masschusetts. While they originally set a goal of raising $15,000 to help fund clean water projects, they soon exceeded their target and decided to aim for $25,000 instead. The donation will be combined with funds from African Well Fund to finance a $65,000 project in southern Senegal which will include the construction of two new borehole wells and the rehabilitation of four wells at six different Health Huts – community health centers where expectant mothers can receive access to care while delivering their children. Access to clean water is critical to support these health centers.

A huge round of applause and sincere thanks to Peace Love Cupcakes for their continuing support and all of their hard work!
